I’m very excited to say that I’m exhibiting at The Gallery, Masham, in their exhibition of 2d and 3d creations from artists and makers inspired by the theme Tea and Sympathy.
When I thought about this title, it made me think about the sort of genuine, understated support and kindness that we all yearn for when we’re low or going through a hard time. But it also made me think about those times when we pay lip service to caring for each other….
‘Tea and sympathy’ speaks to me of human relations; the primal, hard-wired need to interact with one another and the etiquette and social boundaries that circumscribe that contact.
Many of my drawings celebrate caring for each other. Others mourn for those that have to make do without tea and sympathy.
These are preparatory sketches for the series.
